Positions Description

President
(1 undergraduate and 1 graduate position available)
- Must be at least a second year student.
- Ultimately responsible for JSG and its activities.
- Shall preside at all meetings and uphold the JSG constitution.
- Responsible for attending meetings of the CASA Board of Directors.
- Responsible for chairing monthly advisory board meetings.
- Responsible for conflict resolution amongst JSG.
- Together with fellow co-president, shall hold signing authority for JSG.
- Orderly maintenance of JSG’s financial records.
- Responsible for serving as the primary liaison between JSG and CASA, and JSG and CGSA.
- Responsible for attending sustainable business related events in JMSB as well as in Concordia and Montreal community.
- Responsible for participating in and attending CASA and CGSA events.
Skills required:
- Ability to coordinate work amongst JSG members and work well with cross-functional teams.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Keen interest in sustainable business development.
- Strong networking abilities.
- Attention to details.
Web Administrator
- Responsible for content updates of website.
- Responsible for creating website sections according to JSG’s needs.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining online photo gallery.
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by other Executives.
Skills required:
- Basic web IT knowledge required – HTML, FTP.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Attention to details.
VP Internal
- Responsible for all room and space bookings (primarily Hall and GM buildings).
- Responsible for office set-up, maintenance and improvements.
- Responsible for any purchases made for the JSG office (i.e.: supplies and furniture).
- Responsible for business cards.
- Responsible for scheduling logistics of JSG’s meetings.
- Responsible for taking minutes at all JSG meetings.
- Responsible for scheduling office hours of JSG executives.
- Responsible for researching and informing JSG subscribers of upcoming JMSB student events, Sustainable Concordia events, and events in departments outside of JMSB that relate to sustainability in business.
- Responsible for overseeing work done by JSG’s Director of Sustainability / Logistics.
- Responsible for informing JSG subscribers of external events as per the VP External.
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by other Executives.
Skills required:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to details.
- Strong proficiency in written English.
VP External
- Responsible for the promotion of JSG and its events amongst fellow business schools.
- Responsible for attending sustainable business related events in JMSB, Concordia and Montreal community in the case of Presidents’ absence.
- Responsible for informing JSG of all events within the local community relating to sustainable business development and relaying information to the VP Internal.
- Responsible for actively researching sustainability resources within the Montreal community and relaying the information back to JSG.
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by other Executives.
Skills required:
- Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and French.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with graphic design programs an asset.
VP Marketing
- Ultimately responsible for all marketing plans for JSG’s events:
o Speaker series (2)
o Company tours (2)
o 6th annual Sustainable Business Conference (Working as a guide for SBC’s Director of Marketing)
- Ultimately responsible for all PR and advertising for JSG’s events.
- Internal and external media coverage for JSG events.
- Responsible for the writing and communication of information and content updates of website to the Web Administrator.
- Compile and prepare all of JSG’s promotional material and distribute to the various JMSB student newsletters.
- Responsible for overseeing work done by Director of Marketing.
- Responsible for overseeing work done by JSG’s Web Administrator and Director of Marketing
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by other Executives.
Skills required:
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with graphic design an asset.
VP Career Management Services
- Act as a liaison between JMSB’s Career Management Services (CMS) and JSG.
- Actively research career opportunities for JMSB students at companies/organizations effectively employing sustainable business practices.
- Prepare and maintain CMS’ job bank of employers researched in the non-profit as well as profit sectors.
- Serve as the key organizer in the 2nd annual Sustainability Week.
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by the other Executives.
Skills required:
- Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and French.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong networking abilities.
VP Programming
- Responsible for networking with and researching potential speakers who are, or represent companies that are, leaders in sustainable business development.
- Secure one speaker per academic semester (Fall + Winter).
- Secure entire speaker list for the Sustainable Business Conference.
- Responsible for networking with and researching potential companies (for company tours) that are leaders in sustainable business development, and that have facilities located in the Montreal area.
- Organize one company tour per academic semester (Fall + Winter).
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by the other Executives.
Skills required:
- Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and French.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong networking abilities.
VP Case Competition
(1 undergraduate and 1 graduate position available)
- Act as the liaison between JSG and the respective case competition committee.
- The undergraduate VP Case Competition is responsible for working with the undergraduate case competitions.
- The graduate VP Case Competition is responsible for working with the graduate case competitions.
- Serve as a resource in ensuring that the logistics and participants involved in the case competitions are as environmentally, socially, and economically conscious as possible.
- Research sustainable business related case competitions and promote in the JMSB community (can be performed in collaboration with the case competition committees, if applicable).
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by other Executives.
Skills required:
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong networking abilities.
- Proficiency in French an asset.
VP Sustainable Business Conference (SBC)
(1 undergraduate and 1 graduate position available)
- Ultimately responsible for Concordia University’s annual Sustainable Business Conference (please see below for brief background).
- Responsible for supervising and heading the SBC Committee. This includes a Director of Sponsorship, Director of Logistics/Sustainability, and Director of Marketing as per JSG structure.
- Responsible for working with, and guiding the VP Programming in selecting speakers that best fit the structure/theme of the conference.
- Responsible for working with, and guiding the VP Marketing in creating a marketing plan that best fits the structure/theme of the conference.
- Responsible for working with, and guiding the VP Internal (and subsequently the Director of Logistics/Sustainability) in organizing the logistics of the conference.
- Perform other duties as may be decided upon by the other Executives.
Skills required:

Hours required 10 – 15 hours (particularly during the time leading up to the event – beginning of March ‘09).
